Shaping Public Policy Through Resolutions

Advocacy

Each year, BPW Brampton Caledon members contribute to the BPW Ontario and BPW Canada resolution processes, powerful tools that influence public policy and shape provincial and federal priorities.

How It Works

Members can join the Resolutions Committee to propose important topics, collaborate on research, and draft resolutions. These are reviewed by other clubs and formally debated and voted on at the BPW Ontario AGM or Conference and the BPW Canada AGM or Convention.

After a Resolution Passes

Approved resolutions are included in a brief sent to relevant government ministries, opposition leaders, and allied organizations. Each resolution contains clear calls to action, known as “Therefore Be It Resolved” statements.

Clubs use the brief to advocate locally by meeting with MPPs or MPs and sharing BPW’s priorities in their communities.

Advocacy in Action

BPW Ontario and BPW Canada meet with government ministries to present the brief, strengthen relationships, and push for action. Updates on these efforts are shared with members through emails, reports, and website posts.

Through this process, BPW drives positive change for women, locally, provincially and nationally, through advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement.
