Join us for an informative and engaging evening featuring two timely topics affecting older adults: financial planning and tax equity.

Our first presentation will focus on reverse mortgages, explaining how they work, who qualifies, potential benefits, and important risks to consider. Whether you are exploring options for yourself or supporting a family member, this session will provide clear, practical guidance to support informed financial decisions.

Our second presentation will address tax fairness for single seniors, examining how current tax structures impact single older adults. The discussion will explore financial disparities, challenges, and policy considerations aimed at creating a more equitable system.

Chris Carney – Reverse Mortgage Update
Topic: Planning for Retirement: Reverse Mortgage Options
Chris Carney is IG Wealth Management’s Ontario Manager of Financing Solutions, with more than 30 years of experience in financial services. She partners closely with IG’s financial consultants and Mortgage Advisors to help uncover mortgage and banking opportunities. Chris also provides coaching and training on cash flow strategies and credit solutions for clients.

Elizabeth Brown – Single Seniors for Tax Fairness
Topic: Tax Equity for Single Seniors
Elizabeth Brown is Director of Single Seniors for Tax Fairness (SSTF), a national advocacy organization promoting fairness in Canada’s income tax system for single seniors, including widowed, divorced, and lifelong singles. She leads efforts to address the disproportionate tax burden on single seniors and engages with policymakers, media, and stakeholders to support equitable reforms.
